Dr Nihal Özdemir was born in Istanbul. She graduated from Besiktas Ataturk Anatolian High School and Marmara University Medical School and completed her residency in pediatrics at the same University in 2005. She subsequently specialized in pediatric hematology undertaking a fellowship at Cerrahpasa Faculty of Medicine, Istanbul, Turkey. In 2012, Dr. Ozdemir visited Cincinnati Children’s Hospital, USA and Great Ormond Street Hospital, London, UK as a clinical observer. The following year, Dr. Ozdemir was appointed as an associate professor at Cerrahpasa Faculty of Medicine. In 2014, she visited Oxford Hemophilia Center in UK. She has worked as a pediatric hematology consultant at Kanuni Sultan Suleyman Reseach and Education Hospital in Istanbul until 2020. She became professor in pediatrics in the same year. Her fields of interest are bleeding disorders, hemophilia and anemias. Dr. Ozdemir has authored more than 100 manuscripts and has been an investigator in clinical trials. She is a member of Turkish Society of Hematology, Turkish Hemophilia Society, American Society of Hematology and International Society of Thrombosis and Haemostasis.
