Professor Nedret Altiok MD, PhD, earned her M.D. degree at Istanbul University, Istanbul Faculty of Medicine in 1985. Then she received her Ph.D. in Medical Pharmacology in 1993 at the Karolinska Institute School of Medicine, Department of Pharmacology in Stockholm, Sweden. Later she did postdoc at Pasteur Institute, Department of Biotechnology, in Paris, France, between 1993-1997, where she worked in the field of molecular neurobiology. Then she joined Harvard Medical School as an instructor and research associate in Boston, USA, between 1997-1999, where she carried out molecular neuroscience and cancer research projects. Since 2000, she has taken up academic and administrative positions, and continued her research activities in the Medical schools of non-profit private universities in Istanbul. She has been a reviewer for several scientific journals, and expert for the European Union Sixth Framework, and Horizon 2020 Programs.
Research Areas: Molecular analysis of cell signaling networks in cancer and neurodegenerative diseases aiming to develop molecular approaches for diagnosis and treatment.
